Your local moving company in Hendersonville

Hendersonville is the largest city in Henderson County, at about 15,000 people. Interstate 26 runs along its east side. US 25, US 64 and US 176 carry traffic in from Flat Rock, Brevard and the South Carolina line. Laurel Park sits on the mountain five miles west of downtown, and Flat Rock is right next door to the south.

  • Historic in-town neighborhoods such as Druid Hills north of downtown and the 5th Avenue West area. Tell us about porch steps, narrow doorways or oversized furniture.
  • Laurel Park. For homes on hillside lots or long drives, we look at access first and plan the move around it.
  • Retirement and 55+ communities. Building rules, elevator reservations and set move-in hours are common. Send them to us and we will plan around them.
  • Downtown apartments and condos above Main Street shops. Truck placement and timing matter most here.

Downsizing and retirement moves

Henderson County is one of the older counties in the state. About 27% of residents are 65 or older, compared with 18% in North Carolina as a whole. Many Hendersonville moves are someone leaving a family home for a smaller house, a condo or a continuing care retirement community such as Carolina Village.

These moves take more planning than a straight house-to-house move. A smaller floor plan means deciding in advance what fits, and the community may set the move-in day and hours. Our senior moving service is built around that kind of move.

Long-distance moves from Hendersonville

Many people arrive in Hendersonville from other states, and some leave to be closer to children or grandchildren. Dry Ridge Moving holds USDOT 1803573 for interstate household goods moves, and we move households throughout the Southeast.

On every interstate move, federal rules require us to offer two levels of valuation coverage. Released Value Protection is included at no extra charge and covers 60 cents per pound per article. Full Value Protection costs extra and covers repair, replacement or cash value. Valuation coverage is not insurance, so check your homeowner’s policy as well.

Downtown Hendersonville: parking and festival weekends

Main Street was rebuilt in 2013 with a serpentine layout, brick planters and bulb-outs to slow traffic. It is pleasant to walk but leaves few places for a truck to stop. The 265 on-street spaces in the Main Street district are paid Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the city parking deck is at 418 N. Church Street. For a downtown move we plan where the truck goes before the crew arrives.

Avoid Labor Day weekend if you can. The North Carolina Apple Festival closes Main Street between Caswell Street and 7th Avenue from Thursday afternoon until cleanup after the Monday parade. In 2026 that ran September 3 to 7.

After Helene

Henderson County officials called Helene the biggest natural disaster in the county’s history, with road repair costs in the county alone estimated at more than $1 billion. By July 2026, NCDOT had repaired about 95% of the more than 9,000 storm-damaged road sites in the region. One big exception affects Hendersonville directly: the permanent rebuild of US 64/74A through Hickory Nut Gorge, east toward Bat Cave and Lake Lure, is expected to run until the end of 2029. If your move uses that route, or a side road repaired after the storm, mention it when you request a quote. Our WNC Migration Study looks at how Helene shifted migration and housing across Western North Carolina.

We also serve Flat Rock, Fletcher and Mills River. Tell us about the home you’re leaving, where you’re going and any community rules we need to follow, and we’ll send an estimate. Get a free quote below or call (828) 450-3315.
