Fletcher, NC Movers for the Valley Between Asheville and Hendersonville

Fletcher is a fast-growing Henderson County town on US 25, about 12 miles south of downtown Asheville. Dry Ridge Moving has moved Western North Carolina households since 2006, and in Fletcher we plan for new subdivisions, rural Cane Creek Valley lots and homes close to the river.

Moving services for Fletcher households

Most Fletcher homes are owned, not rented, and many are newer houses with two-car garages that hold more than a moving list suggests. We can pack the whole house with our movers and packers, load it, drive it to your next address and unpack. If you already rented a truck or a container, a moving help crew will load or unload it for you. One crew and one truck handle your move, and we never combine loads.

Getting around Fletcher on move day

US 25, known locally as Hendersonville Road, runs straight through the center of town. It reaches Asheville to the north and Hendersonville about nine miles south. Interstate 26 crosses the west side of Fletcher, with Exit 44 meeting US 25. The town covers about 6.4 square miles of the French Broad River valley, and Cane Creek and its tributaries wind through it.

That valley floor makes Fletcher easier for a truck than most mountain towns. Streets are flatter and drives are shorter. The tradeoff is water. Low roads near the river and the creek are the first to close in heavy rain, so we check NCDOT closure notices before we set a route and an arrival time.

Fletcher neighborhoods and what to tell us

Fletcher has grown from 2,787 residents when it incorporated in 1989 to about 8,400 today. Housing falls into a few groups:

  • New subdivisions. Communities like Tap Root Farms, off Wheatfield Road, mix ranch and two-story homes around a shared clubhouse and pool. Ask your HOA where a moving truck may park and for how long.
  • Apartment complexes near Town Center. Send us the property’s move-in rules before move day.
  • Cane Creek Valley. Larger homes, small farms and ranches. Long driveways are common, so describe the length and surface when you call.
  • Older houses along US 25. Mention any porch steps or a narrow carry path.

Flood history on Fletcher's low ground

On September 27, 2024, the French Broad River reached 30 feet at Fletcher, the highest level on record there. Floodwater blocked Old Hendersonville Road, reached Fletcher Town Hall and forced residents out of The Groves at Town Center apartments. FernLeaf Community Charter School lost its main buildings and spent about a year rebuilding.

If you are buying near the river or Cane Creek, ask about the flood history of the street, not only the house. If your road or bridge was repaired after the storm, tell us when you request a quote. Our WNC Migration Study shows how the storm changed who is moving into and out of the region.

Fair season on Fanning Bridge Road

The WNC Agricultural Center sits on 87 acres along Fanning Bridge Road and hosts the NC Mountain State Fair, which runs for about ten days each September. Horse shows, livestock sales and trade shows fill other weekends. If your new home is near the fairgrounds, a weekday move outside fair week usually means less traffic for the truck.

Moving to or from Fletcher

From Fletcher we also move households in Arden to the north and Mills River to the west, plus Hendersonville and Flat Rock. We can quote over the phone, or walk through your home in person or by video for a larger move, and you get a written estimate. Tell us both addresses and anything about access, like an HOA rule or a low road. Get a free quote below or call (828) 450-3315.

Moving in Fletcher: common questions

Is Fletcher in Buncombe or Henderson County?

Fletcher is in northern Henderson County, just south of the Buncombe County line. Its ZIP code is 28732.

Which road do your trucks use to reach Fletcher?

Usually I-26 to Exit 44, then US 25 into town. US 25 runs through the center of Fletcher between Asheville and Hendersonville.

Does the Mountain State Fair affect moves in Fletcher?

It can. The fair runs for about ten days each September at the WNC Agricultural Center on Fanning Bridge Road. A move near the fairgrounds goes more smoothly outside fair week.

Yes. Send us the HOA rules on truck parking and move hours before move day and we will plan the truck position around them.

Do you move people from Fletcher to other states?

Yes. Dry Ridge Moving holds USDOT 1803573 for interstate household goods moves and serves the entire Southeast. Long-distance pricing is based on weight, cubic feet, distance and fuel cost.
