NC 280 is the usual way in. It runs 18.1 miles from Arden, past the airport and through Pisgah Forest, and ends where US 64 and US 276 meet just outside Brevard. From that junction US 64 heads east toward Hendersonville and west along the Waterfall Byway, and US 276 climbs south through Cedar Mountain toward the South Carolina line or north into the national forest.
Brevard ranks among the wettest towns in the country outside the Pacific Northwest, with roughly 75 inches of precipitation a year. Rain on move day is likely, so every piece of furniture goes on the truck padded and shrink-wrapped.
Downtown fills up on White Squirrel Weekend, held over Memorial Day weekend. It is centered on East Main Street. In summer, the Brevard Music Center brings more than 650 students aged 14 to 29, plus over 300 adult participants, for programs from June through August. If you can choose your date, a weekday outside those weeks is easier for a truck in town.
Winter is the other factor. Cedar Mountain sits roughly 550 feet higher than Brevard. If ice, snow or any other dangerous conditions are forecast for move day, we call you to change the start time or date before a crew goes up an unsafe road.
Helene dropped 18.34 inches of rain on Brevard over five days in September 2024, beating the 1916 record. The French Broad at Rosman hit its highest level on record, and US 276 washed out near Connestee Falls. We check NCDOT road-closure notices before setting a route to any Brevard address. Our WNC Migration Study tracks how the storm reshaped moves into and out of Western North Carolina.
Besides Brevard we serve Pisgah Forest, Rosman, Cedar Mountain and Lake Toxaway, and the NC 280 corridor through Mills River. Give us your address, your destination and details like a gate code, a private road or a long climb to the house, and we will build your estimate. Get a free quote below or call (828) 450-3315.
Most of our trucks come in on I-26 to Exit 40, then NC 280 through Mills River and Pisgah Forest to the US 64 and US 276 junction.
Yes. Both are private communities, so send us the gate access details and HOA rules on trucks and move times before move day.
White Squirrel Weekend over Memorial Day weekend, and busy summer weekends during the Brevard Music Center season from June through August.
We move in rain unless conditions are dangerous. Furniture is padded and shrink-wrapped before it leaves the house.
